Observation

• Observe your child in their school and/or home setting.
• Identify child's strengths and needs.
• Uncover any barriers to learning or making social connections.
• Offer recommendations specific to your child, under the supervision of Dr. Ira Glovinsky or another licensed practitioner.

Social Skills Development

• Guide new and returning preschoolers during one on one sessions and/or play dates, utilizing play-based activities, stories, puppets and music.
• Encourage positive peer interaction by teaching your child to identify and understand their emotions, develop empathy, recognize social cues, take turns and problem solve.
• Teach calming strategies such as deep breathing and mindfulness, to help manage their emotions and facilitate self-regulation skills.

"I Can Do It"/Self-Help Skills

Promote and reinforce independence and confidence through:

• Handwashing
• Zipping and unzipping coats/backpacks
• Clean-up time (sorting and organizing toys)
• Putting on/taking off shoes
• Following directions

School Monitoring & Check-In

• Visit classroom periodically.
• Communicate with teachers and social workers via phone or in-person.
• Provide direct feedback to parents.

Bullying Intervention

• Assess in-school social environment.
• Create a plan of action with school staff.
• Establish a buddy system with older student as a peer mentor.
• Advocate for the safety of your child.

Attend School Meetings and Functions

• Accompany parents to school meetings as a liason.
• Set up appointments with prospective schools and accompany parents on school tours.
• Attend school functions on parents' behalf in case of conflicting schedule, e.g. school plays, evening assemblies, parent-teacher conferences, etc.

Consult with Educators

• Training and team-boosting for teachers and staff.
• Provide safe and confidential space for team members to communicate openly, as it relates to the classroom environment.
• Promote constructive and positive communication.
• Obtain wider perspective.
• Gain deeper appreciation.
• Goal: to create a supportive, unified team.

Home Organization

• Allow for more family-time and less busy-time.
• Empower children with clean spaces.
• Create clarity and peace of mind.
